Instagram is a huge tool for marketing your photobooth business! Many people turn to Instagram for inspiration and ideas on what to do for their wedding or event.

MDRN Photoooth Company has booked many clients because of our social media presence and a few of those have been big ticket corporate events that had 10K+  price tags. Don't discount the power of social media for your business.

If you aren't really sure how to Instagram then this post will be perfect for you because I'm going to breakdown what has worked best for us and some best practices.

Claim your Instagram handle

What ever your business name is, make sure your handle matches it as best as possible. For example, MDRN Photobooth Company is @mdrnphotoboothco on Instagram. You want to make it easy for people to search your business and find you, especially if they are searching a worD like "photobooth". I would not recommend @MDRNPB or @MDRNPBC. If your handle is already taken then you should probably change your name, since someone is already running a company under it. Seriously, no one likes a copy cat.

Make your profile a business profile

The Instagram business profile gives you some pretty nifty tools to play with like your followers demographics and behaviors. You can find out what the best time to post is based on when your followers are active.

On the left you will see the insight page of our instagram account. It will tell you how many followers you gained that week, the impressions (how many time people saw your postS) and some info about your followers like sex, age and days they are most active.

To access this information simply click on the bar chart at the top right hand of your profile.

Complete your profile section

Make sure that you put in as much information as possible in your profile. When you select a  business Instagram account you can connect it to your Facebook Business page and it will populate most information for you. Most important things to include are:

  • Website

  • Bio

  • Address (populated from Facebook)

  • CALL TO ACTION (populated from Facebook)

Post what you want to book

if you want to target weddings then post lots of wedding pictures.

Show up to events early and snap pictures of your set up, take a few details shots of your prop table, print a sample print and place it with some of the wedding decor then take a picture, etc... There is nothing but content for your social media at each event.

If you haven't done an event yet set up your booth in your backyard and take some picture of it IN FRONT OF THE BACKDROP. SET UP SOME LAY FLATS WITH PROPS AND A PRINT OUT. GRAB A COUPLE OF FRIENDS OR NEIGHBOURS TO COME OVER AND JUMP IN THE BOOTH AND TAKE THEIR PICTURES.

We constantly create styled shoots for our instagram account to provide inspiration to our future brides.

NEVER COPY CONTENT FROM ANOTHER ACCOUNT

I THINK THAT STATEMENT IS PRETTY CLEAR AND REQUIRES NO ADDITIONAL COMMENTS....

FIND YOUR HASTAGS

IF YOU ARE A LOCAL COMPANY THEN I SUGGEST YOU START TO LOOK AT HASHTAGS IN YOUR AREA THAT RANK WELL. EXAMPLES TO CHECK OUT ARE #YOURCITYWEDDINGS #YOURCITYPHOTOBOOTH #YOURCITY, ETC... HASHTAGS THAT HAVE 200K PLUS PHOTOS ARE THE SWEET SPOT. THEY HAVE ENOUGH ACTIVITY THAT PEOPLE CHECK IT REGULARLY YET YOUR POST WON'T GET PUSHED OUT SECONDS AFTER POSTING. HASHTAGS THAT HAVE 1M POSTS WILL PROBABLY HAVE ALL OF A MILLISECOND OF VIEWING.

BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR HASHTAGS SO THAT WHEN PEOPLE LOOK THEM UP THEY SEE THE MOST CONTENT FROM YOU. I LIKE TO MAKE HASHTAG LISTS ON THE NOTES APP ON MY PHONE SO I CAN COPY AND PASTE THEM INTO MY POSTS EASILY AND QUICKLY.

INTERACT WITH your TARGET MARKET

IF YOU WAnT TO BOOK WEDDINGS THEN CHECK OUT A HASHTAG LIKE #YOURCITYBRIDE OR #ENGAGEDYOURCITY. HERE YOU WILL SEE A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO JUST GOT ENGAGED AND ARE PROBABLY PLANNING A WEDDING IN YOUR AREA. GO AND LIKE THE PICTURE THEY TAGGED AND ADD A NICE COMMENT LIKE "NICE RING!" OR "CONGRATS!". I WOULDN'T SUGGEST POSTING SOMETHING LIKE "IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PHOTOBOOTH PLEASE CONTACT US" NO ONE LIKES A SALES PLOY ON THEIR ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT.

CHANCES ARE THEY WILL SEE YOUR NICE NOTE AND CLICK ON YOUR PROFILE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE ALL ABOUT ANYWAYS :)

Instagram doesn't have to be hard. You can do it in just a few minutes every day and it will pay off for you in the long run. try different things out to See what works better for you AND REMEMBER THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO IS INTERACT ON INSTAGRAM. :)
